A STUDENT has won gold and silver at an international martial arts event.
Naomi Denton, 14, from Darlington, pictured right, picked up the medals at the International tae kwon do tournament, in Lisbon, over Easter. The pupil at Teesside High School, in Eaglescliffe, travelled to the event with the Kim Chung Do Kwon Centre, Darlington.
The gold medal was for the team poomse, which involves a set of synchronised movements and the silver was for team self defence.
"We were only beaten by point one of a mark," said Naomi, who achieved her black belt a year ago.
Her next competition is on April 25 at Sheffield.
