UK Trade and Investment in the North-East has appointed a regional specialist trade advisor for the food and drink industry.
JEFF BEAN, 53, has more than 30 years' experience in overseas trade, having worked for Rowntree Mackintosh, in York, which was later taken over by Nestl.
During his 20 years with Rowntree, Mr Bean had several roles including shipping, documentation and freight clerk, sales executive, new business development and area sales manager.
He joined Ross Young's as regional manager before moving to Baxter's of Speyside, where he was an area manager.
His work in the private sector involved dealing with clients from around the world.
He joined UK Trade and Investment as an international trade advisor five years ago working in the Humber and North Yorkshire areas.
As the North-East's regional specialist international trade advisor for the food and drink industry, Mr Bean will help companies make the most of overseas opportunities.
Food and drink is a key sector for the region, employing about 25,000 people - nine per cent of the region's manufacturing base. It adds £2bn a year to the regional economy.
