A CONFRONTATION in a car park between two feuding men left one with two of his car windows smashed, a court heard yesterday.
Darlington Magistrates' Court heard how a bottle was thrown at Jonathan Learoyd's car, smashing passenger windows on each side.
Lee Poole, of Neasham Road, Darlington, pleaded guilty to causing the damage, which was estimated at £267.90. Magistrates gave him a six-month conditional discharge.
The court was told the incident, in Corporation Road car park, was the result of a dispute over many months.
Jacqueline Gibson, prosecuting, said Mr Learoyd attempted to drive off when he saw Poole's car.
"The defendant pulled alongside the vehicle and threw a glass bottle through the front passenger window," she said. "The bottle travelled through the vehicle and smashed through the other side passenger window."
Rob Hutchinson, in mitigation, said Poole had voluntarily given £70 towards the cost of the damage.
"However, as Mr Learoyd is in the windscreen fitting trade, the repair would not have cost the £267.90 which was being asked for."
