A BINGO fan from Stanley has landed a brand new Ford Ka in a special draw.
Sharon Curry, a regular at the Top Ten club in the Elite Buildings, Stanley, beat several thousand other bingo players across the country to win the top prize in the Easter Sunday draw.
All 24 clubs in the Top Ten group linked up for the live draw, in which each was allocated three unique numbers.
Stanley was the first club to mark off all three and then held an internal draw to decide who should win the £6,000 car.
Sharon, a 40-year-old care worker with two teenage daughters, said she will keep the new car and sell her old one. She said: "I reckon I'm quite a lucky person. I recently had a £900 win and just before that shared a £2,100 win with a friend - but this tops the lot."
Top Ten club manager June Rimmington presented the car and handed over the keys to Sharon at the club.
She said: "There's always a special atmosphere in the club on a Sunday night but on this particular occasion it was electric.
"It's the first time we have won anything on this scale and the place absolutely erupted when I called the winning number. I was afraid the controller wouldn't hear me, there was so much noise from the floor."
