MORE affordable homes are being built in the wake of a successful three-way partnership.
The project, involving the Home Housing Association, Southdale Homes and City of York Council, will lead to the creation of 18 homes for rent in the Clifton area of the city.
They will be ready by June, and will be owned and managed by Home Housing Association.
The houses have been built on land behind two blocks of flats that were demolished a year ago after the tenants were rehoused
The Housing Corporation gave £1.1m to buy the land and fund the building costs. The site now has 18 family-sized homes with two, three and four-bedroomed houses.
Work started in spring of last year, with demolition, clearance and work to the new road layout.
The homes will all be given to people who are eligible to be on the council's waiting list and are being let through a "local lettings" approach.
Priority will be given to applications from people who have a connection with the area, have a close relative in the area or are in housing need, and registered, or eligible to register, on the housing list.
