A FORMER clergyman has returned to print to help young victims of the war in Iraq.
The Reverend John Stephenson, former vicar of Eppleton, in Hetton-le-Hole, has published 36 books, mostly anecdotes relating to life in the former Durham coalfield.
His latest work, Canny Coal Crack, is a collection of poems and articles, including the story of Suffragette Emily Davison, who was killed in the 1913 Derby when she jumped in front of the King's horse.
Proceeds from Canny Coal Crack will go towards Medical Aid for Iraqi Children, a charity supplying equipment to treat young victims of the conflict.
Canny Coal Crack can be ordered for £1.50, from 29 Launceston Drive, East Herrington, Sunderland, SR3 3BQ
