NATURE lovers are invited to go looking for bats, help maintain footpaths and hear the dawn chorus this summer.
Darlington Borough Council's countryside team has launched its spring and summer activities for 2005.
This Sunday, walkers can help get footpaths in good condition during a Rights of Way Practical Day in Dinsdale Woods, from 10.30am to 3pm. Participants need to dress warmly, wear sturdy footwear and bring a packed lunch. Meet at the layby on Church Lane, Middleton One Row. For details, call Malcolm Thompson on (01325) 484949.
Other events - including the chance to join bat experts at Drinkfield Marsh, in Whessoe Road, on May 13, and a chance to hear the dawn chorus on May 1 - are detailed in a leaflet, available from Information Darlington, the town hall and Crown Street Library or by calling (01325) 388648.
