A HOTLINE has been set up for healthy families to order their weekly supply of fruit and vegetables.
As part of the West Redcar SureStart, staff at Green Gates Children's Centre have set up a weekly order line for people to ring in and order their bags of fruit and veg at the bargain price of £2.50.
Organiser and nutrition co-ordinator Claire Spence said: "We've had lots of parents eager to join. It's all about healthy eating for all the family."
The SureStart Partnership, based in Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's education department, has drawn up a draft policy on healthy eating.
Consultation on the draft policy is now extending to headteachers, who are considering the implications for the school meals service.
Parents and carers have also been invited to comment, by accessing the draft healthy eating policy, vailable on the council's website, www.redcar-cleveland.gov. uk/surestart.
