A GIRL from Darlington has become one of only a few aspiring actors to be accepted by a famous training academy.
Georgia McIntyre, 12, has been selected to take part in a two-week course run by the National Youth Theatre.
More than 5,000 children entered auditions across the country, from which only 750 were chosen.
Georgia, who attends stage school and has also taken part in the National Youth Music Theatre, will join the academy, in London, in Easter next year.
Her mother, Paula, said she was very proud.
"I am very happy for her, as it is what she wants to do as a career," she said.
"She has done singing and dancing too, but acting is her first love.
"I was not sure she would be accepted on her first audition, but we are both delighted that she has been."
