STAFF and pupils at a Chester-le-Street school are celebrating after earning a glowing Ofsted report.
South Pelaw Infants School, which gained A-stars in ten areas and As in the other two, was described as 'outstanding' by Ofsted inspectors.
Headteacher Irene Cochran said: "We are all delighted at this achievement. We work very hard as a team to ensure all children reach their full potential.
"Governors, staff and parents, and of course the children themselves, deserve the recognition."
Doris Bell, who led the inspection last June, said the quality of teaching is very good and that reading, writing and mathematics are very well taught.
She found assessment systems are very good and that information gained from them was used in planning. Ms Bell concluded the needs of all pupils are very effectively met.
