STUDENTS from Carmel RC College will stage an overnight vigil tonight to call for trade justice.
Members of the college's FairTrade group will stay awake all night in support of the Wake Up To Trade Justice event being held simultaneously around the world.
The overnight vigil marks the culmination of the Global Week of Action for Trade Justice.
Students will take part in a variety of events over the night including banner making and a prayer vigil in the college chapel.
They will share a FairTrade breakfast on Saturday morning and finish their vigil with Mass at the Carmelite Convent at 8.30am.
Danielle Moss, 14, said "Trade Justice is all about fairness and the idea that we are all equal.
"It is only right that everyone should have an equal share in the world's resources."
David Bayne, RE teacher, said "The students' sense of justice and willingness to actively campaign for an end to unfair trade is inspirational. They recognise that in 2005 we have a wonderful opportunity to get rid of poverty and they have seized that chance."
