PLANS to impose a 20mph speed limit near two Darlington primary schools are to go ahead as part of a £60,000 traffic calming scheme.
The project will also include speed humps and mini-roundabouts being installed in Newton Lane, Cockerton.
Residents, and parents of pupils at Cockerton and Holy Family RC primary schools, raised a petition calling for action after nine accidents in the area, two of them involving children.
Councillor Nick Wallis, Darlington Borough Council's cabinet member for highways and transport, said there had been serious concerns about safety.
One resident objected to the scheme.
