SEXUAL health issues have been high on the agenda for a group of young people from Coundon and Leeholme.
The eight members of the Coundon Leeholme Young People's Society have recently completed a six-week course called Sex and Relationships Education and have been presented with certificates congratulating them on their achievement.
The project was co-ordinated by the Durham Dales Primary Care Trust and Groundwork West Durham and took place at the Coundon Community House, at Tees Walk.
Kaye Bramald, sexual health outreach worker for the trust said: "This is about young people taking responsibility for their own health and hopefully, by raising awareness of sexual health issues, we can help reduce the number of teenage pregnancies and sexually-transmitted infections in the future.
"This course was a great opportunity for me to meet local young people and offer them a programme made up from their own ideas.
"It was great to see them having fun yet learning information which will help them when making decisions about their own sexual health.''
