AN unusual choral concert is taking place at Ripon Cathedral next month.
The North Yorkshire Chorus will be joined by members of the South Devon Choir in a performance of the Sea Symphony by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
The concert is being held to mark the Year of the Sea which includes celebrations to mark the 200th anniversary of Nelson's victory at Trafalgar.
The choirs will perform the work in Torquay before bringing it to Ripon on May 14. The University of Sheffield Symphony Orchestra will accompany the choral societies under conductor Martin Hindmarsh, who is the resident conductor for the North Yorkshire Chorus.
A charity collection for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution will take place during the evening.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets are available from the Ripon Cathedral shop, Ripon Travel in Kirkgate, the White Rose and Hambleton bookshops in Thirsk and the Greensleeves music shop in Northallerton. Tickets will also be available at the door, £12 for adults with children free if accompanied.
