FIREFIGHTERS are urging householders to use the correct cables when linking sheds up to the electricity supply.
The warning follows a fire in Valley Road, Northallerton, on Thursday night in which a garden shed was destroyed.
The garden fence was also damaged in the incident
The cause is believed to be an electrical fault on a domestic extension cable, which had been run from the house to the garden shed.
"It is important that anyone requiring an electrical supply to a shed must use a proper heavy duty cable, preferably fitted with a circuit breaker, for general limited use," said spokesman Mick Sowden.
