THE RSPCA is appealing for help after a gang of teenagers set fire to frogs and toads.
A group of 16 and 17-year-old boys were seen earlier this week plucking the frogs and toads from a pond in Newton Aycliffe, then pouring petrol on them and setting them alight.
RSPCA inspector Gavin Butterfield said the culprits could face prosecution and six months in jail.
He said: "Unbelievably, thought went into this because the group had taken a can of petrol to the pond and must have had this in mind.
"I would urge them to think about what they have done."
