AFTER 40 years of working for the same company, technical director Chris Newton has finally decided to call it a day.
He joined the Masham-based animals feedstuffs manufacturer, I'Anson Brothers, straight from school in 1964, initially working in the mill.
After 18 months, he moved to work in the office, at that time located in Masham's Market Square, and worked his way up the ladder to his role as technical director.
"During my time at I'Anson's, I have seen fantastic changes. Things are very different now to when I first started," said Mr Newton.
"I remember when they employed just 12 people, and the mill used to shut down for an hour at lunchtime.
"Now we have 24-hour production and employ more than 68 members of staff.
"There have been so many developments, and I am pleased that I have played a part in the growth of the company."
The firm presented Mr Newton with a laptop computer to mark his retirement, and a picture of Masham to thank him for his years of loyal service.
Managing director Chris I'Anson said: "Chris has been a very valuable member of the team and played an important role over the years."
