TEES Forest is inviting runners to take part in 5km trail races at countryside sites across Teesside.
The first race takes place at Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, on Thursday, at 7.15pm.
Now in their fourth year, the races are not just for club runners but are open to anyone over 15.
Simon Blenkinsopp, Tees Forest recreation officer, said: "In addition to raising awareness of the sites, the trail races also encourage active participation in outdoor sport.
"Recent research has shown that exercising in natural environments reduces stress levels and these sites provide a great resource for local communities.
"The races bring together club and novice runners who may not normally feel comfortable entering more strenuous races.
"More than 1,000 runners have taken part over the past three years and we are particularly keen to welcome new participants to the races."
