Newcastle-based insurance brokers Bishop Skinner has made two appointments to its board of directors.

SCOTT KINNAIRD, who joined the company in 1986 and was appointed an associate director six years ago, moves up to full membership of the board.

JOHN NOONE, a senior account executive, becomes an associate director.

Chairman Ron Brewis said: "The appointments are part of a general strengthening move that is indicative of our steady expansion in both size and range of our operation.

"We've taken over a number of brokers and further acquisitions are in the pipeline."

Mr Kinnaird joined Cornhill Insurance as commercial insurance clerk, leaving in 1986 to become commercial broker with Bishop Skinner. He gained an Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute qualification five years later.

Mr Noone took a Masters Degree in risk crisis and disaster management at Leicester University three years ago. He has spent all his working life in the insurance industry and was a partner in the brokers company founded by his father. He joined Bishop Skinner when it acquired the family company.
