COUNTERFEIT vodka thought to contain methylated spirits has been found on sale in a North-East pub.
Trading standards officers in Stockton warned people after the product was found in a routine inspection at a town centre pub.
The bottles are marked Hanacka Vodka Jemna, 40 per cent and have a black and gold label and a red top.
The product has been found in one-litre bottles without lot codes and are thought to contain diluted methylated spirits.
Stockton Borough Council said the genuine product came in different bottles and had lot codes.
Officers are trying to trace the suppliers of the counterfeits, which are thought to come from the Czech Republic.
Trading standards manager David Kitching said: "The sale of counterfeit products is something which my officers are used to dealing with, but the problem is made far worse when drinks are substituted with potentially dangerous substances.
"If anyone has bought any of this produce or knows where it is being sold, please report it to your local trading standards."
