THE British Horse Society is planning a ride to celebrate the opening of a new path.
Darlington Borough Council invested £140,000 in creating the 2-km link between the West Park estate, at Faverdale, and the edge of the Branksome estate.
The route - which includes a footpath, cycle path and a track for horses - follows the route of the disused Barnard Castle railway line. The society marked the opening of the route with an inaugural ride last August and is now preparing for another event.
A second ride will take place on Sunday, May 22, as part of the society's access week.
Riders can meet at the lay-by near the Baydale Beck public house and be ready to set off by 10am.
