YOUNG people in Saltersgill, Middlesbrough, will soon be able to express themselves through dance and movement.
A new £77,000 dance academy is designed to engage the youngsters in fun activities and prevent them from becoming involved in crime, substance abuse and anti-social behaviour.
Tees Valley Dance, supported by Middlesbrough Council, will be at Holmwood Special School in Saltersgill for three years promoting education through dance, drama and music.
Funding for the scheme comes from the Northern Rock Foundation. Chairman Leo Finn said: "We are keen to support organisations that find creative and effective ways to relate to young people, to build their confidence and to engage them in positive activities."
