YOUNGSTERS and parents will take centre stage at the region's biggest concert hall after months of practise with professional percussionists.
Pupils from Hartside Primary School, Crook, will perform at The Sage Gateshead in July.
The reception class and mother and toddler group have learned how to play drums, cymbals, and triangles in sessions at the school as part of The Sage Gateshead's Early Years and Family Learning Programme.
Headteacher Pauline Walker, said: "The music sessions have taught the children a lot about music in general. It also raises awareness of what mums can do with their children as far as activities are concerned.
"It has so far been a huge success and we are all looking forward to seeing them perform together."
Katherine Zeserson, director of learning and participation, said: "The main focus of The Sage Gateshead's Early Years and Family Learning Programme is to inspire parents, carers and early years' staff with the confidence and enthusiasm to create music.
"We are delighted to be collaborating with Neighbourhood Learning in County Durham on this exciting project."
