A MAN has been charged with wounding following a stabbing that left a man needing ten stitches in his neck.
Shaun Green, 42, from Hawthorn Walk, Hartlepool, was arrested yesterday after police said a street row escalated into violence.
The attack happened at around 8.30pm on Tuesday in the Dyke House area of Hartlepool.
Police said it was thought that an argument between two men, who were believed to be known to one another, got out of hand.
The 29-year-old victim received a wound to his neck and cheek during the altercation at the junction of Willow Walk and Hazel Grove.
He was taken to the University Hospital of Hartlepool, where he received treatment for his injuries.
He was released yesterday afternoon.
Detective Sergeant Matt Mason, of Cleveland Police, made an appeal for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
He said: "This is a very serious attack and we would hope that anyone who saw anything, or who can help us in anyway, would get in touch."
Anyone with information should call Cleveland Police on (01642) 302126.
Mr Green was due to appear at Hartlepool Magistrates' Court today charged with wounding.
