A THREE-DAY preaching conference attracting visitors from across the world opened yesterday.
The 2005 Durham Preaching Conference opened at St John's College, in the city, with US writer, the Reverend Fleming Rutledge, as the main speaker.
More than 20 years ago, Ms Rutledge became one of the first women to be ordained into the US Episcopal Church and served on the clergy at a church in New York's Broadway.
Also speaking at the conference, which is based on the theme of Biblical Power for Biblical Sermons, will be Geoffrey Stevenson, the director of the Centre for Christian Communication at St John's College, and writer David Wilkinson, a Fellow in Christian Apologetics at St John's College.
As well as the main sessions there will be workshops and worship.
