CHARITY champion Rena Shaw has hung up her fundraising boots after helping to pull in more than £1m for Cancer Research.
Mrs Shaw has clocked up more than 30 years of fundraising for the charity and during her time as manager, its High Street shop in Redcar has raised £1,270,000.
Her husband, Bob, and their three sons, Andrew, Peter and Martin, also caught the charity bug and took part in dozens of marathons and organised darts matches.
Mrs Shaw said: "I've been told I'm the longest reigning fundraiser for Cancer Research. That means so much to me. I know through my hard work and my family's dedication we have helped a lot of people."
Mrs Shaw and the charity said goodbye last week, but she plans to continue her good work in the community and look after elderly residents.
