Morton-on-Swale international Nicola Tweddle has been in good form recently, with success at events across England.
The 28 year old four star rider was among the entries at the Burnham Market International one day in Norfolk, which staged a qualifier for the World Cup final, due to be held this autumn. Nicola finished in 10th spot on her top horse Skiver, the 15.2hh dark bay gelding who is her ride at the world famous Badminton three day event this May.
"It was Skiver's third run at Burnham Market and his last outing before Badminton," said Nicola. "I was very pleased with him and hopefully he'll get to Badminton fingers crossed - he's fine at the moment."
The pair have twice competed at Badminton and finished in an excellent 20th place last year, when heavy rain made conditions extremely testing.
Nicola also finished fifth and eighth in the CIC** (international one day event) at Burnham Market, on Mr Micawber and Endeavour II. Mr Micawber is a giant 17.3hh bay gelding originally bought as a hunter for Nicola's mother.
"I've been riding Endeavour II since June 2003 and he's aiming for the two star Windsor three day event at the end of May," Nicola added.
Nicola then moved to the Weston Park one day event in Shropshire, which underwent an April mix of sunshine and showers that left riders unsure of what to expect next.
She finished fourth in an Advanced Intermediate section, one of the top competitions at the event, on the 13 year old bay mare Don't Underestimate. The pair saw victory slip away in the show jumping section, where they picked up 12 penalties to add to their overall score.
"I was delighted - it was her first time at this level and she went well all the way through," Nicola said. "She was clear cross country with just a few time penalties and has three show jumps down but I was pleased as she'd never faced so big a course."
The 16hh horse is also entered at the Windsor three day event this May, due to be held over the Queen's Berkshire parkland
