A WOMAN who drove away from an accident that left a driver with broken bones in his back is being sought by police.
The accident happened on the B6532 road, from Durham to Sacriston, on Thursday.
At about 5.45pm, a metallic red 4x4 car, possibly a Range Rover or Land Rover, turned into the main road from Potterhouse Lane, into the path of a Ford Fiesta heading towards Durham.
The Fiesta managed to brake and avoid a collision, but a Nissan Vanette was unable to stop and crashed into the back of it.
The Fiesta driver, a 45-year-old man from Houghton-le-Spring, Wearside, suffered whiplash, abdominal injuries and two broken bones in his back. He was taken to the University Hospital of North Dur-ham, Durham City, where his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The Nissan driver, a woman from Framwellgate Moor, Durham, was unhurt.
Witnesses say the 4x4 driver, thought to be a blonde woman, drove off towards Sacriston.
