PARENTS who want to celebrate the birth of a baby can now do so at a museum in the region.
The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle, County Durham, is being offered as a venue for naming ceremonies.
The ceremonies are increasing in popularity as a way for parents, family and friends to celebrate the birth of a child and pledge their support and love to the newborn.
Events officer at the Bowes Museum, Aileen Risbey, said: "Following on from the success of being a unique civil wedding venue, we are delighted to announce that we can now offer naming ceremonies at the Bowes Museum."
The museum has hosted civil weddings and champagne receptions since 1997 and has more than 20 ceremonies planned for this year.
It also offers ceremonies for couples wishing to renew marriage vows or to celebrate anniversaries.
All the events are held in one of three rooms at the museum registered for civil ceremonies.
