ANIMAL welfare workers have organised a special day out for their four-legged friends.
The Pooches Picnic is planned to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Saltburn Animal Rescue Association (SARA).
It is hoped that as many as possible of the dogs rehomed over the last decade will be brought along by their new owners.
They should come armed with provisions for a picnic in the grounds of the Cheshire Home, at Marske, east Cleveland.
"We want to see as many of the dogs that have been rehoused over the last ten years, as possible,'' said SARA spokeswoman Sheila Green.
Children are being encouraged to take along their teddy bears as well, for the open air feast on May 21.
SARA has been campaigning to build an animal sanctuary and the appeal has now reached the £250,000 mark.
The organisation's next objective is to open a charity shop in Guisborough to raise more funds.
The goal is to to be able to open an animal shelter where no dog will be destroyed, unless it is very sick
