AN 18th Century pub has undergone a £100,000 refit.
Esmond and Jeanne Watson have bought the Dog and Gun at Potto, North Yorkshire, for £500,000 after selling their Middlesbrough camera business, Cameramart.
They have spent a further £100,000 on expanding and improving the pub, adding a carvery and 85-seat function suite. They also plan to build a conservatory to add a further 35 seats.
The improvements include £40,000 on a kitchen upgrade for new chef Simon Wilson, who worked at the Three Tuns, at Osmotherley, and Judges and Crathorne Hall, near Yarm.
Mr Watson said: "Jeanne and I often visited the Dog and Gun and knew we wanted to run a pub just like it."
Mr and Mrs Watson's eldest daughter, Deborah, is to be general manager and their youngest daughter, Andrea Ashton-Moore, an actress, is to run quiz nights
