Crook was buzzing with hundreds of revellers on Saturday when a community partnership organised a St George's Day party.
As the first of many celebrations planned for the town, the Crook Community Partnership put on the celebration, which lasted well into Saturday afternoon.
The action was centred around St Catherine's Community Centre in the Market Place.
Children had their faces painted, other people were kept entertained by a magician and mothers and their children took part in a historical fancy dress.
The partnership also organised a dragon hunt and their dragon model was a hit with the youngsters.
People took advantage of the warm weather and spent most of the day wandering around the stalls and taking in the sights of fancy dress and side shows.
The grand finale was an outdoor church service and music by the Salvation Army Brass Band.
Chairman of Crook Community Partnership, Graeme Fancourt, said: "We celebrate St Patrick's Day but we seem to ignore the Patron Saint of England.
"Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I hope it will be the first of many festivities for Crook."
