Darlington Building Society NYSD Premier League Division One: Blackhall posted an early notice of their intentions to make an immediate return to the Premier Division when they hurried to a nine-wicket victory against Redcar.
After dismissing the Seasiders for 72 in fewer than 30 overs, the Colliers required just 9.4 overs before celebrating a quick-fire victory.
Newcomers Steve Hanson and Shoaib Akhtar shared seven wickets before Anthony Booth hit one six and nine fours in an unbeaten 49.
Runs were also at a premium in the game between Darlington RA and Yarm at Brinkburn Road.
The visitors struggled through 45.1 overs making just 65 with Will Wyatt (30) scoring almost half the runs.
Graeme Hird was the scourge of the Yarm batsmen and in 12 overs, he conceded 15 runs capturing five wickets.
It was then the turn of the RA batsmen to find the going difficult and they conceded five wickets in 19.3 overs before securing victory. Phil Andrews and Wyatt caused problems sharing four wickets.
Barnard Castle were all out for 70 against Marton for whom Jack Conway returned the magnificent figures of 7-14. Marton, runners-up last season, completed a comfortable seven-wickets win.
Darlington were another side who failed to make three figures, all out for 91 at Wolviston for whom David Ward returned 4-12 in 10.3 overs and Jimmy Jones 4-27 from his 14-over spell.
Andrew Fish was a steadying influence in Wolviston's reply and the opener was still there at the end, unbeaten with 37 having struck just one boundary. Wolviston conceded just three wickets reaching the modest target.
Runs were a lot more plentiful at Seaton Carew who recorded the top score of the day, 164 all out in 49 overs against Thornaby.
Martin Skirving had ten boundaries in 73 and in the visiting attack, none did better than Umar Rashid with five for 47 in 19.1 overs.
Thornaby were required to bat 51 overs and only just held out for a draw at 146-9. Their saviour was Rashid who followed up his bowling performance making a top-scoring 47.
John Fitzpatrick delivered 14 overs taking 4-40 and Kevin Gibbon was equally impressive, his 12 overs yielding figures of 3-20.
Normanby Hall's 147-6 proved too much for Stokesley who were all out for 107 with 5.4 overs remaining.
Kevin Thwaites (49) and Brian Leach with 32 starred for the Hall while Chris Bede bowled an economical 17 overs for Stokesley conceding 30 runs for three wickets.
Rob Cameron-Clark struck 35 but Stokesley stumbled to 137 all out as Geoff Robinson took 6-37 in 17.2 overs and Dave Brown chipped in with a couple of useful wickets.
