EXOTIC creatures and colourful dancers have taken over a school playground.
Pupils at Ferryhill Station Primary School helped to create the many characters who feature in the 52ft mural, which is painted on the school yard wall. Staff from Percy's Teesside Play and Education Resource Centre designed and painted the carnival-themed mural, which was inspired by the pupils.
African, Indian and South American animals and people can be seen dancing around a central the globe, which everyone at the school helped to create.
Teacher Nicola Larke said: "It has created a stimulating, enriching environment depicting the all cultures for all the children to benefit from." The project was funded through an arts week and a £500 grant from County Durham and Sunderland arts and education agency.
