A MEMORIAL service to commemorate International Workers' Memorial Day will be held at Ripon Cathedral on Thursday, at noon.
The service, in memory of those who have died or been injured through work, is supported by both the Health and Safety Executive and the TUC.
The service is open to all, but is aimed primarily at those who have lost friends or relatives, or who have been injured themselves at work.
Nationally, 318 people were killed in workplaces in 2003/04, of which 27 were in the Yorkshire region.
International Workers' Memorial Day originated in Canada in 1985.
