TEESDALE Scouts spent a weekend learning about lead mining.
Scouts from Barnard Castle and Gainford spent the weekend at Ninebanks Youth Hostel, on the Northumberland and Cumbrian border.
On Saturday, despite a snowfall, they travelled to Killhope Lead Mining Centre, in Weardale.
They then travelled to Nenthead where they visited a 250-year-old mine and saw how water power was used.
The 1st Barnard Castle Scout Group is holding its annual meeting tomorrow, at its headquarters in Wilson Street, Barnard Castle.
The meeting will be followed by entertainment and prize-giving. Durham Scout County manager Graeme Popay will present the prizes and talk the future of Scouting.
