SCHOOLCHILDREN have been working to improve the gardens of a north Durham care home.
Fifteen pupils of Consett Junior School have been taking part in the project, which aims to brighten up small areas of the gardens at the town's Brockwell Court Care Home, for the enjoyment of the elderly residents.
The children have drawn up designs for the gardens, which they have presented to the residents of Brockwell Court.
After receiving contributions from Consett North Partnership and Brockwell Court, and a grant from the Environment Agency Action Earth scheme the children have purchased the plants that they need to complete their designs.
The children will be working with residents from Brockwell Court to start creating their designs on today.
The project is part of the Pride in Consett North project which is a joint venture between Consett North Partnership and Groundwork West Durham with funding from Northern Rock Foundation.
