DURHAM Choral Society will open its 2005 season in Durham Cathedral next month with performances of twentieth century music.
The main feature of the concert on Saturday, May 21, will be Karl Jenkins' The Armed Man, which was commissioned by The Royal Armouries museum in Leeds to celebrate the Millennium and is a mass for peace. Other pieces include Constant Lambert's The Rio Grande and The Kestrel Road, by Peter Maxwell Davies, Master of the Queen's Music.
The concert starts at 7.30pm and the soloists will be Sally Burchall and David Murray. The leader will be Susan Innes and the conductor Richard Brice.
