THE services provided by Darlington's women's refuge Family Help have been awarded a Quality Mark.
The accolade by the Legal Services Commission is in recognition of the refuge's high standard of work, including putting victims of domestic violence in touch with the right network of agencies to suit their needs.
Refuge manager Sue Degnan said: "The Quality Mark is proof of the high standard of services we provide and, as a voluntary charity, this is very important.
"We work alongside many agencies and can help many, many victims of domestic abuse with a whole host of problems.
"Some people need legal advice, while others need to be put in touch with housing or education agencies, and the award shows the service is successful."
Victims of domestic violence - whether it be mental or physical abuse - can visit the refuge from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and on Saturday from 9am to noon.
Alternatively, people who want help can telephone the refuge's helpline on (01325) 364486.
