A WOMAN from Derwentside has celebrated her 100th birthday in style.
Elizabeth Keenleyside, of Greenacres Road in Shotley Bridge, had a sherry reception followed by dinner with family and friends at Blackhill Masonic Hall.
Chairman of Derwentside District Council Councillor Cath Clark presented her with a bouquet of flowers from the people of the district.
Mrs Keenleyside said: "I very much enjoyed my day. It was lovely to see everyone.
"The secret of a long life is to work hard and live well."
Entertainment was provided by Consett Junior Brass Band at the party on Monday.
Mrs Keenleyside still loves watching football and is a keen supporter of Sunderland Football Club. She is also a big fan of horse racing.
Her niece, Lucy Harris, said: "She has a remarkable zest for life and continues to enjoy good health and every new day that comes along.
"She is also a great giggler."
