THE teenage son of football legend Bryan Robson was arrested on the eve of one of the most important games in his father's career, The Northern Echo can reveal.
Ben Robson, 15, was picked up with three friends on suspicion of committing a burglary in a Teesside town centre on Friday night.
But all four were later released without being charged, although one of the boys - not Ben - was given a caution.
Ben's father, the West Bromwich Albion manager, who was in the region for the weekend match against his former club Middlesbrough, had to get a taxi to collect his son from the police station.
Only hours later, Robson was at the Riverside Stadium hoping to earn three points.
But it was an unhappy return for Robson, 49, who lived in Yarm, near Stockton, when he managed Boro between 1994 and 2001, as his struggling side lost 4-0.
The Echo understands that Ben, a youth team player at non-league club Altrincham, was taken to Stockton police station at about 10pm on Friday.
He had been arrested with three other teenagers as they walked across a school field in Yarm with a fire extinguisher, which was thought to have been taken from a commercial premises on the High Street.
