TOP performers are taking to the stage to help raise money for two local charities.
Ex-Boro star George Smith has organised the event to raise funds for the Willie Maddren Trust for Motor Neurone Research, in memory of his former colleague, who died aged 49.
The fundraising event marks the fifth anniversary of the death of the former Boro player and manager, after a five-year battle against the illness.
Money raised from the event will be split between the trust and the Butterwick Children's Hospice.
Mr Smith said: "There is a strong football link with this year's show, with the Professional Footballers' Association sponsoring the event and loads of sporting memorabilia for the raffle.
"We are putting the finishing touches on the show and it is promising to be a great night of entertainment."
The show, called a Cavalcade of Song, Dance and Magic, promises dazzling performances from established stage performers, including Dave Capri, John and Jim Lavell and Sara-Louise Smith.
Stewart MacFarlane will be compere for the evening, which has been produced and directed by Geoff Lucas.
Tickets for the show, at Middlesbrough Theatre, on June 5, cost £10 and £8 and are available by calling (01642) 624231.
