ELSIE and Eric Corps vividly remember the day they met on a crowded dance floor - more than six decades ago.
Yesterday, the couple, from Edmund Street, Darlington, looked back fondly as they celebrated their diamond anniversary.
Mrs Corps, 84, said: "I was born in Darlington, but Eric was originally from Hastings.
"Later, he came up north to serve in the army at Catterick Barracks.
"I often went to the barracks because of the dances they held there and this is how we met."
After two years courting, the couple tied the knot at St Mary's Church, Darlington, on April 28, 1945. To celebrate their anniversary, they are hosting a party at The White Horse Hotel on Saturday, with more than 70 guests, including daughter Patricia, sons Michael and Geoffrey, their eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs Corps said: "We already have the cake and everything else has been planned by the family. There will be decorations and music; it will be a good old shindig."
