AN annual charity football tournament to remember a woman who died from cancer will take place tomorrow.
Hundreds of supporters are expected to visit the Welfare Football Ground at Langley Park from 11am for the games in memory of Mary Hayton.
Ms Hayton, from Sacriston, died in June 2003 aged 42, and money raised during the game will go to Cancer Research UK.
Ms Hayton's sister, Eileen Fort, said: "The football tournament will give local people a chance to remember Mary and help raise money for vital research into cancer at the same time.
"After Mary's death, we set up the memorial fund in her name to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We have already raised over £12,000, and we are hoping this second football tournament will help to generate more funds for research."
The tournament will culminating in The Mary Hayton Charity Shield Match, between Sacriston FC and last year's winners, Langley Park FC.
