A MAN could be scarred for life after an explosive was thrown in his face as he walked along the street.
The 21-year-old victim - who has not been named - was walking in an alley to the rear of Northcote Street, in Stockton, Teesside, at about 6.30pm on Wednesday, when the attack took place.
Police said he was approached by a young man and a boy - aged about 21 and 12 - who confronted him.
Seconds later, an explosive was thrown into his face. Police are still attempting to determine what the object was.
The man was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees suffering from a perforated ear drum and burns to the head and face.
"This was an unprovoked attack and we are appealing for any information to help identify the two males," said DC Kenny Clark, who is investigating the case.
"All information will be in confidence," he added.
The elder of the two is white, between 21 and 22, 5ft 9ins and of medium build. He was wearing a black vest, dark tracksuit bottoms and trainers. The younger assailant was 12 years old, 4ft 3ins and of a small, skinny build. He may also have damaged his hand in the incident.
