SHOPPERS have been urged to stay on their guard against thieves after three incidents in Darlington.
Two purses and a handbag were stolen from shoppers in the town centre on Thursday afternoon. All three crimes occurred in shops.
Jacqui Snowball, of Darlington Neighbourhood Watch, said: "People should be extra careful that possessions are kept secure when out shopping."
Meanwhile, the local Neighbourhood Watch organisation will be available at the social services reception area at Central House, in Gladstone Street, on Tuesday, between 10am and noon.
"Crime Ring" message pads, bearing the new local contact number for Durham Police, will be available.
Ultraviolet property marking can be carried out free of charge, while security lights will be on sale for £13 and shed alarms for £10.
