A STUDENT from Bishop Auckland is to get support with her university course, thanks to Marks and Spencer.
Rachael Forster, 19, has been awarded a place on the company's Marks and Start programme, which will see her receive support and paid work experience during her education.
She is one of 35 students to join the programme whose parents did not go to university.
Rachael, studying philosophy and English literature at Glasgow University, has received £1,000 for her first year of education, and will receive £500 for subsequent years of the course, which will go towards the cost of her degree.
During term, she will experience day-to-day work in different areas of the store in Glasgow.
She said: "Both the financial support and work experience that I'm receiving will make a real difference to my university years."
