AN author of the history of Darlington in pictures signed copies of his latest book at the weekend.

Then and Now, which uses photographs from The Northern Echo's archive, was signed by John Dean in Ottakar's in the town on Saturday.

The book charts the past 150 years in Darlington in pictures, and shows its development.

Mr Dean, who also writes for The Northern Echo, said he enjoyed sharing stories with shoppers.

"It was good to chat to people, and hear their memories of how the town has changed," he said.

"I think the book brings back a lot of memories for a lot of people."

Then and Now by John Dean is now available in most bookshops.
