A CHARITY night raised cash to help to improve the quality of life for a disabled boy.
The event, at Northgate Working Men's Club, Darlington, raised more than £2,800 for Ashley Mawson, 14.
Ashley suffers from partial trisomy 12, a rare chromosome abnormality, which means he cannot walk, talk or hear properly.
His family want to raise £15,000 to adapt their home in Stockton Road.
Stan Summers, secretary of Northgate club, said the club's members had been moved by the appeal. He said: "We presented a cheque for £2,000, but with all the extras, like raffles, it was actually nearer £3,000.
"It's a great amount to raise, and it's down to the hard work of the committee members, and the amazing response from regulars."
Ashley's mum, Elissa, said: "We're delighted with the money, it will really make a difference. We've still got quite a way to go, but we're getting there."
