A HOSPITAL worker from Darlington was among the nominees for a national catering prize, after creating a healthy dessert recipe.
Ron McKenzie was runner up at the recent Cost Sector Catering Awards, with his recipe for Dutch apple oaty crumble.
The dessert used low calorie sweetener instead of sugar, making it a healthy option.
Mr McKenzie, who works at Darlington Memorial Hospital, was commended for his efforts in a ceremony at London's Hilton Hotel.
The competition was open to employees from healthcare, education, prison and social services across the country.
